It begins with curiosity
Book Design

It begins with curiosity is the first monograph for the Danish architectural studio Henning Larsen.

The book is split into three sections: Past, Projects, and Future. Past utilizes serif typography and black and white images, whereas in Projects, san-serif typography and colored images support recent architectural work. Layouts vary, thus supporting the unique context of each project. In Future, typographic styles combine on 80g weight paper to display and communicate future work, and future unknowns.

Changing Our FootprintExhibition Design, Visual Identity
Changing Our Footprint is an exhibition by Henning Larsen that asks questions about how the climate-friendly architecture of the future will look and how the firm works with scalable, climate-friendly solutions.

The exhibition is split into three themes: Biodiversity, Wood, and Straw. Inspired by unrolling sketching paper and the architectural pin-up space, models, text, and image-based material unfold and unroll throughout the space. Extended typographic weights of red headlines comunicate the three themes and primary information, while captions in maroon set in monospace type support more academic text.  The exhibition was first presented at Aedes Architecture Forum in Berlin in 2022 before moving to the Danish Architecture Center in Copenhagen in 2023.

The New Grand TourLogo, Visual Identity
Using the historic Grand Tour as a starting point, the The New Grand Tour is a program that offers Europeans the chance to apply for a free month-long Interrail pass on their 18th birthday.

The focal point of the visual identity is the multi-linguistic logo. To reinforce inclusivity across the EU, the word “new” within the logo is translated to one of the 24 native languages of that specific European receiving the documents on their birthday. Iconography and colors are a digital interpretation of the EU and Eurorail identities, giving the The New Grand Tour a modern and fresh voice.

KABLogo, Visual Identity, Signage and Wayfinding
KAB, Copenhagen’s largest housing association, moved into a new headquarterts in 2021. In connection with this move, a new visual identity and signage system was designed.

KAB’s new logo is solitified at its base like the foundation of a home, while the new color pallette is routed in colors found in historic KAB material. Working with the request from the client for a signage system that feels like home, wood painted with a toxic-free, linseed-oil paint unfolds across the many levels of the office building. Inspired from their ‘grundfortælling’, the various colors in signage represent the diverse community the organization builds homes for. The illustrations for graphics on glass illustrate various forms of housing, further communicating the goals and work of KAB.

PwC Strandvejen
Graphics on glass, Interior architecture

Graphics on glass and lamella walls at PwC Strandvejen in Copenhagen are built from the values and visual language of one of the Big Four firms. Through user workshops, a form was developed from flow diagrams to represent both human connections and the language of mathematics.

A 2D graphic flows across glass partitions, while its cousin brings the form into the physical dimension on acoustic lamella walls throughout the office building.

Grim GroteskType Design
Grim Grotesk is a quirky, workhorse typeface inspired by grotesques of the late 1800s. Research, details and construction are inspired by Lapidar (1895) by Genzsch & Heyse and Akzidenz-Grotesk by Berthold (1896).
